The Digital Transformation
With the digital transformation of business in Australia already growing rapidly and kicked along thanks to COVID-19, lately there’s been massive uptake in videoconferencing and AV capture systems. Online Business Coach in Maroochydore QLD recently took ownership of a Maxell lecture system for recording and streaming of their training sessions. Through a valued AV dealer AVA Distribution assisted in the scope, design, supply and programming of the solution.
System Scope
The end user required a recording system that captured participants in the room, content from a PC and enabled participants on Zoom inclusion into the days training & the final recording. The system needed to also simultaneously stream out to a password protected web link. Plus the room itself needed outputs to an existing projector and in-ceiling speakers for local participants to see and interact with the training content and VC participants.
Design
A system was devised that brought in 2x Panasonic AW-UE4 PTZ cameras and the presenters laptop into the MAXL1 via Kramer long run active HDMI cables. The MAXL1 simultaneously records and streams those inputs in a range of pre-set layouts to an internal hard drive and CDN provider. The MAXL1 easy to use web GUI allows a user to quickly set their desired layout and then hit record with a few clicks of the mouse.

For capturing the room in the Zoom conference one of the camera feeds was split at the rack with a Kramer VM-2UHD HDMI splitter and sent back to the training room via a Kramer CA-HM long run active HDMI cable for input into a Magewell 32060 capture device. Because the Panasonic cameras carry audio and video this was a simple and easy option to employ. For the laptop, audio was de-embedded out of the HDMI run with a Kramer FC-46H2 so participants in the room heard the content through the room speakers as well as the feed passed through into the MAXL1 for recording.

The CDN chosen was Dacast and with it a suite of features allowing quick and easy input of encoder settings and setup of a password protected web link. This enables the end user to live stream to paid subscribers and ensure content remains exclusive
The Result
Supply & Programming
All components were supplied and pre-programmed by AVA Distribution for the AV Dealer to easily install and roll out. Right from the design scope AVA Distribution assisted with the solution and because it was based on the products they distribute, the hands on test and development manta delivered confidence throughout concept to delivery. The overarching understanding and pre-programming of such a system saves time and money for the AV dealer and subsequently the end user.
